What is Internal Medicine?

Sometimes, keeping your pet healthy isn’t about simply treating the issues they presently have but looking at the problems they might have in the future. Internal medicine is all about looking at your pet’s organs and bodily systems to determine how well they are functioning and whether or not that might present issues down the line. Your pet’s current ailment may be caused by a disease of the liver, gastrointestinal tract, kidney, or lung, to name just a few examples, so treating the specific ailment may not be enough. The problem may persist or worsen, or other issues may develop. The best course of action may be to treat the organ or body system itself, thus fixing the current problem and keeping others from springing up.
